Flash cards don't show, can't turn on wi-fi Toshiba netbook NB500

I can't get my wi-fi to turn on.:cry: I have a Toshiba netbook NB500 running win 7, 32 bit "starter". It should turn on using fnF8 keys, but the flash cards don't come up when I press the Fn key. The rest of the fn functions work (screen brightness, touchpad etc). I'm sure it was an ms update that did it :confused:, I have uninstalled the most recent ones, looked everywhere in systems and...
