I think a Windows Update has messed with my Lenovo PC which I bought in 2011. It has been a good computer and has caused me no problems. But about two months ago I think Windows 7 updated and now Windows Explorer won't work. I've tried every fix posted on YouTube. The easy ones and the more deeper fixes. Updated CCleaner and ran that but other then speeding up my pc which is good the Windows...

Hi, I use Auslogics Disk Defrag. I'm no expert, I just bought it based on what people said. There are quite a few ways to defrag, for eg. simple defrag, free space defrag, optimize by prefetch layout, optimize by disk zone etc. I've only used simple defrag until now as I can't conclude which one would give me best performance. But canone tell me which one should I use and how ? Also, how...

Hello, Windows 7 Home, JPEG images, opens with Windows Live Photo Gallery. In my Pictures Library, when looking at the groups of pictures, they look normal. When I pick any one of the pictures and click on it to open it, the picture looks darker than normal, and it prints out darker than normal. I haven't downloaded any new programs relating to Photo editing or anything like that. Any ideas...

I use WOL on my two-system home network and want to keep using it. One machine is ethernet attached and the other is wireless. Even when they are both asleep the wireless machine wakes up every thirty minutes. I can tell from the event viewer log that its waking up because of its wireless adapter. The Power Management setting for the wireless adapter has these three boxes checked "ONLY...

The background image is mostly horizontally stretched and there is no login prompt either. In fact, there's nothing but the stretched background image and stretched mouse cursor. Any attempt to start in safe mode results in returning to the lone stretched loging screen. F8 repairs, trouble shoots.., everything one can possibly do before startup yields to the same result as far as I have...

clone to new SSD (Crucial MX500 500GB) and all goes well until I switch SSD over to AHCI mode (trying to get the most out of the SSD features - NCQ, TRIM, Garbage Collection, et-al...) after regedit switching AHCI on... constant BSOD stop 0x07 even when trying to boot in SAFE mode... What's worse is that even the old HD (WD Caviar 320GB) won't boot in either AHCI or SATA mode... constant BSOD...

*What is it for ?* It gets Windows 7 ISO image (any language, any architecture), download all post-SP1 updates directly from Microsoft site and create new bootable Windows 7 ISO (with all updates integrated). It also removes all bloatware (Telemetry, Diagnostics, Windows Defender). _In short: it turns Windows 7 SP1 DVD into Windows 7 Dec 2018 edition DVD._ And it is...

My regular PC uses a spinner HDD. But I’ve been playing around with an SSD to put some games on it. I’ve been powering off & swapping connections when I want to swap drives. I thought about buying/building a hardware switch or using third party software to select the boot drive. But since I have to reboot the PC no matter which method I use, why not just change the BIOS boot order when I...

  • 01/02/19--03:08: Enter Network Password issue
  • Hi, Hope someone can help with this. We have six pc's, four of which run Windows 7 (some Home, some Professional) and two recently purchased pc's are on Windows 10. Networking them together has usually been problematical but I eventually get there. Except for one of the Windows 7 pcs that has the Home Premium version. It will not allow access to the public documents folder, asking for a...

I'm using W7 Professional 64bit and sometimes I have the need to use a Dos command. I use Microsoft Publisher 2002 and, despite it's age, it works perfectly and gives me no problems. When using Publisher and want to save the work I've been doing, every time I press 'save', the files go to the default folder which is c:\users\name\my documents. Now I never use that route, preferring to use...

I have Windows 7 home premium 64bit with 6gb of ram. I was asking windows update to install KB4483187 and KB4471318. KB4483187 installed without difficulty, but KB4471318 would not install and windows update gave error 0x8024200d as the reason for the failure. I came to your website and looked up why I would be getting an error on the update install, and followed some instructions from another...

I got my wife a Seagate 6TB Backup Plus Hub. I ran a Windows backup with image overnight, and when I checked it this morning it said it did not complete due to an I/O error. However, there is a 96 GB backup on the device, so something happened overnight. I first tried using Macrium, but that would not run for more than a few minutes and then would abort, due to the same issue. Any ideas as...

Lately my computer has been freezing during video watching specifically, the graphics glitching to where there's lines and the audio stutters. But usually I have to hard restart my computer for it to get out of it, and it never happens twice in a day or even a week I think? Today it happened again, but I actually got a BSOD and managed to take a picture of it with my phone. If there is any help I...

So recently, and I don't know why. .mp3 icons have changed the icon to a white backdrop with a blue musical note, they used to have the winamp icon, which is an orange lightning bolt on top of a white diamond shape. They're still associated with Winamp, I tried changing the default to something else, then back to Winamp and it's still showing this other icon for some reason. I haven't changed...
