Considering just any Old Joe 3.5" HDD in an external enclosure:
Does the disk spin at all times that the enclosure's power switch is ON, or only when the computer needs to access it?

Reinstalling: why not simply run setup from CD
Hi everyone. Now I have to reinstall Win 7 on a machine and I wonder: we are commonly recommended after putting in the CD to restart and boot from it. But why? Why the hassle when after insertion autorun prompts me to run setup.exe so why not use it, so much simpler? Doesnt it work the same way after that?

NTFS vs exFAT
I have two 80GB partitions. One is formatted exFAT and the other NTFS. I'm trying to copy all the files from the NTFS partition but they won't fit onto the exFAT. Is exFAT less efficient space-wise?

Windows 7 Update Problem
Hello, I have recently done a re-install of Windows 7 on my laptop. When I try to check for updates I get the error message that windows cannot check for updates as service is not running. I have no luck in Task Manager trying to see if I can start this process, and the recommended restart doesn't help either.
