Hello! Yesterday my computer crashed with a Bug Check String of MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION. I had been experiencing a number of crashes with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE in September but only 1 of them this month. I updated all drivers on 9/14, after which only 2 crashes happened in Sept. I just updated my Intel Management Engine Driver but otherwise have no updates available. I've been having...

---Quote--- Cryptocurrency mining malware has been one of the most prolific forms of malicious software distributed by cyber criminals throughout 2018, but given how some view it as relatively benign compared with other more damaging attacks like ransomware and trojans, it's occasionally overlooked as a threat. However, cryptojacking malware - which secretly hijacks the processing power of...

I am still trying to tighten my firewalls etc, and when googling (or DDG'ing in my case) I noticed that any question related to network security automatically is answered with the assumption in mind that the person wants to maintain a sharing capability with the other computers in the house, like printers, files, whatever. With the result that answers are tailored toward that, skipping over the...

I just realized there are suggestions at the bottom after you post a new thread which I did a minute ago. Unfortunately I used the word OPEN so all the suggestions are for that. I rephrased my questions with the word CLOSE. (Sorry, but who knows when someone will respond.) UPDATE: I immediately got suggestions for other posts which I read.

Hi guys A little help please. I have a Windows 7 64 bit system that has been running since 2014. Of late I note my CPU gets to 50+' and I'd like to move it down a little. This happens during video rendering. I make sure to keep it cleaned out inside.

I just installed a new Samsung NAND SSD 860 EVO drive in my desktop. After cloning it and then disconnecting the previous Seagate hard drive, I can't put the computer into either sleep or hibernation. I've tried resetting in Power Options, reloading Enable_Hibernate.reg, and also something else using cmd.exe to check what all is connected that can wake. I've got it set to hibernate when I...

Windows 7 x64 Office Professional 2016 I just found out that my Outlook is using Personal file format Outlook Data File (97-2002) which means ANSI according to what I've learnt. I wanted to change it to the UNICODE format that's been in use since 2003. I am confused however by these facts about my outlook folders. The archive.pst file is 3+ GB in size and uses a file format of Outlook Data...

Hey, I've noticed my Windows folder has been bloating, is there any way to reduce it further? I've already done Windows Update cleaner in the Disk Cleaner and cleared all my caches. I've even done some potentially dodgy stuff like manually cleaning my DriverStore. Is there anything else I can do? I'm open to different things.

I'm trying to Clone a HDD using AOEMI Backup facility. Trouble is the HDD in the Laptop I'm trying to clone has 5 partitions and AOEMI will only clone 3! Windows 7 offers me no way of merging these partitions so I have downloaded AOEMI Partition Assist. The HDD seems to be in a bit of a mess having crashed and now been restored I'm sure it shouldn't have 5 partitions. Can anyone...

From my googling and from an unsuccessful chat session with Microsoft I see little hope of fixing this recurrent error. Is there a workaround which might avoid the need for the WMSRT? Third-party software?

Hello everyone, I have 2 desktop computers. One is an old XP machine which I don't go online with and the one I'm using right now which has Win 7 pro on it. I took lots of abiword text files and moved them from XP to 7 thinking Wordpad would convert them. Not so. Now every time I create a wordpad document and save it somewhere it has the abiword symbol over it. If I check the properties of a...
