Hi My PC is on a small work network of 6 PC's all connected by ethernet to a central router, via a switch to expand the number of ethernet ports. I have a piece of equipment permanently attached to my PC that orders products online for my customers. This equipment's software is designed to work with a single IP address, so everytime I come in to work I have to ring the supplier to...

I have one USB I put all my customer files to. For whatever reason the USB Seems to have become Corrupted, and sometimes takes forever just to create a New Folder, or to Save a File to. It seemed to start when I first started Syncing with FreeFilesSync, but also when I created some Documents with LibreOffice and then I think opened and saved them in Office. I've also used Linux to Copy Files...

---Quote--- Researchers at Radboud University in the Netherlands have revealed today vulnerabilities in some solid-state drives (SSDs) that allow an attacker to bypass the disk encryption feature and access the local data without knowing the user-chosen disk encryption password. The vulnerabilities only affect SSD models that support hardware-based encryption, where the disk encryption...

---Quote--- Last year, after hearing from Chrome users, we *launched (https://blog.chromium.org/2017/11/expanding-user-protections-on-web.html) *a set of user protections against “*abusive experiences (https://support.google.com/webtools/answer/7347327)*” -- experiences designed to intentionally mislead and trick users into taking action on the web. The machine in question was working well when it was last used, about a week ago. On my return it failed to boot, and the automatic "recommended option" to repair the startup, failed repeatedly. A search revealed that the same symptom was reported by "ilikemittens" in 2010. The screen shows a blue whispy image in the background and a large mouse cursor, but no login window. Unfortunately, the...

---Quote--- Since we *shipped .NET Standard 2.0 (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/dotnet/2017/08/14/announcing-net-standard-2-0/)* about a year ago, we’ve shipped two updates to .NET Core 2.1 and are about to release .NET Core 2.2. It’s time to update the standard to include some of the new concepts as well as a number of small improvements that make your life easier across the various...

Started getting BSOD a few days ago, but haven't installed anything new. It crashes with error code 0x0000007f. I've uninstalled Norton and replaced it with Malwarebytes, since I've read Norton is responsible for a few BSOD crashes. Also uninstalled Daemon Tools. Used Driver Verifier and deleted the key of pxhlpa64.sys. I've checked for memory leaks and scanned for malware, but to no avail. Also...

For years, inserting this same flash drive and caused Autoplay to come up and I could tell it to open in Windows Exploring. In the last week, it's stopped. Tried another USB flash, same thing. If I go to Exploring and look in the list, there's the drive and i can open it, but I don't want to go to that extra step of opening Exploring and finding the drive among my many. I miss the box just...

Hi, Hope someone here can help with this annoying issue I've been facing for the last few months. When some, but very few emails, I can never click on the 'read more' text which should take me to the relevant page in Chrome. I do, however, get a link to view in the browser at the top: "If there are problems with how this message is displayed, click here to view it in a browser" at...

I wonder whether there was a non-security update for Windows 7 (64bit) for Internet Explorer 7 in the last year (=after Oct 2017) until today. Currently I update only security patches but have still stability problems with IE11 Maybe someone know the KB number and could tell me. Thank you Peter

Just wondering: Why shouldn't I switch to Windows 10 now? Why is 7 the preferred OS? I'm a newbie to operating systems, and genuinely prefer Windows 7's overall style and feel over Windows 10, but I know Windows 10 is supposed to be faster and overall more smooth than Windows 7. I'm a casual gamer and programmer, so I'd like to hear why others do not upgrade to Windows 10.
