Hey, So I am building this program to remotely stop a program on a variety of Windows 7 machines connected to a Windows 2008 Server. I want to use WMI objects to do so. I'm tried to query the list of the running processes via Code: --------- Get-WmiObject -Query --------- on Powershell but am returned an Access Denied error. Maybe I have to make the remote machines treat the server as an...

Hi there, It seems I have some issues with my VPN connection at home. I have the Lenovo G560 with Windows 7 64 bit installed. As soon as I switch on a VPN connection (Hola VPN) all my browsers (Mozilla, Opera, Yandex) excepting Chrome can't connect to the Internet. Without the VPN, everything works fine. The problem isn't related to antivirus or firewall since I tried to work without them. Is...

GPU fan question

I'm hearing a slightly different noise in my computer and while very low in audible strength, I can hear it. It sounds like it may be the front case fans, but I'm not sure. I also thought it might be my CPU fan, but it's still spinning although that doesn't rule out a possible eminent fan failure. I also thought it might be my PSU. So I ran a program to look at some voltage specs and all seem...

Windows Media Player replacement

For many years I've used Music Collector to manage my mp3 library. Recently, I upgraded to the current version as over the years it's had new features added. By linking my .mp3 album tracks into the database, it can play a single track or a whole album. It does this by producing a file '[Playlist].m3u'. Windows Media Player is called, with this file, automatically by Music Collector. I had...

Hello. I am having trouble understanding when Windows 7 Ultimate updates will end, when sales of Windows 10 will end, and whether or not I would be able to install Windows 10 on my computers. (And I still don't understand when it is and is not necessary to write or not after writing whether.) I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my youngest desktop PC and Windows 7 Home Premium on my older...

Stop libraries search from showing subfolders

Hi guys, is there any way to stop library search results from showing subfolders? Whenever I search for a folder name in a library (comprising multiple locations, i.e. multiple folders from multiple drives) not only do I get the folder/folders that I searched for, but also ALL the folders and files that are contained in that folder/folders, which clutters the results to the point of making the...

Virtual future for Windows 7?

I don't know anything about virtual box or virtual anything really - have also just kept simple stuff - programs on hard drive etc. But I read something recently about how you could have a computer running in, say Windows 10 or other supported distro - and then install Windows XP in virtual box (as a safe way of running XP indefinitely). Anyone tried that? Just wondering if that might be...
