Hello Guys! This is my first post on this forum. I bought a new laptop and I need to install my CAD software for interior design. After installation it seems that the software is not fully functional :( I contact software support and they said I need to install it on Windows 7. My Clevo N150RD came with preinstalled Win 10 Home. I have a full retail version of Windows 7 two disc 64 & 32...

Hi all, Having downgraded my laptop from W10 to W7, it is missing some drivers for several things, which are detailed in another topic. I am starting to think that this laptops mobo or setup will not support some drivers for W7 as it originally came with W8.1 I have the option to put back on W10 via upgrade - as the 7 installation activated ok and the upgrade nagging window has started....

Let me start by telling you I find your forum brilliant. I am spending more and more time here. Am starting reading the tutorials now. I have Windows7 and use Firefox browser. I also use Lastpass for my login. Every time I start a new thread or a new page in a thread Lastpass logs me in again and I get the message that I am being redirected (see attachment) This takes time. Any idea how...

Windows updated Shell32.dll

For some reason, every time I try to edit shell32 my system gets an explorer crash at boot up. Windows update has recently updated it to 6.1.7106.23155. I use the same method I always have to edit the icons. Copy and paste system32, and syswow64 shell32 files into a folder, then edit them to how I want, take ownership of originals and rename to .bak, then copy the modified files to the respective...

Due to some PC issues I am having, I am looking at my System Configuration and the services that start with the computer. Most are good, but one is called "Key Express Service" with the manufacturer "unknown". Internet searches does not provide clues for what this is, and if it is safe to disable. Thoughts?

Check for ONE File (!) if NTFS structure + hard disk sectors ok?

Obviously the user can check the consistency of a FULL, whole NTFS hard disk by performing a "chkdsk" command and run in addition one of the well known tools (like MiniTool Partition Wizard) a surface test to check whether all sectors of a hard disk are ok. But what if I don't want to check the full, whole hard disk but only one (big) file? I suspect only one file of being defect and want to...

Error Code 99 on New Build with MSI M7 Motherboard

With the motherboard on the bench, I put in the CPU with heatsink/fan, and RAM and installed it into the case. Then after hooking up the bare minimum (onboard video, mouse, keyboard, case connections) the dang thing would not boot, giving me an error code of 99 and No beeps. (it's a beeper, not speaker, and I don't even know if it works...) And nothing on the monitor. I took the ...

Hi, For a while now, my system has not been closing down properly every night. I check that every program is closed then go to start > Shut down, and it does shut down, but not before very quickly displaying a "Force Shut Down" error, as if a program is still open. Secondly, every moring when I switch the PC on, as soon as I attempt to do anything using the mouse or keyboard, Windows...

Hello, Experiencing some BSOD's caused by ntsokrnl.exe usually when in any game (normal laptop operation is stable). Recently upgraded my RAM from 4GB to 8GB of 2x4GB Ballistix sticks from Crucial (used their system scanner etc). I've tried re-seating the RAM and swapping the two sticks around, doing seemed to slightly reduce the likelihood of getting BSOD. Tried running driver verifier with...

previously I installed two hotfixes that addresses the boot up performance issue but then I downloaded a patch which also contain the two previous hotfixes which I have already downloaded. Should I uninstall the previous 2 hot fixes or does it overwrite the previous hotfixes? The two hotfixes were: kb:2510636,kb:2555428 Then the recent hotfix:kb2775511

I'm running windows 10 on a Samsung 250gb SSD. Along with it I have two 500gb seagate hard drives, each partitioned in half. Giving me 4 separate volumes from the OS which I used for games, music, picture, etc. A couple of nights ago, I woke up to notice that windows had run a scheduled update and was now restarting, but was stuck at 0% running a check disk on one of the volumes that...

Hi everyone. Just joined, seems like a great community :D. I'm having serious trouble doing a clean W7 install, and it's driving me nuts! I just upgraded my PC with a i7-6700K Skylake CPU, MSI Z170-A Pro MB, and Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2133MHz 2x8GB RAM. At first I just plugged in my SSD with previously installed Windows 7 x64, and actually got it working (after enabling AHCI in registry,...

BSOD when taking a system image of C: OS

Hi, I hope you can help. Windows System Image always used to work great but recently I cannot complete it without it freezing and subsequent BSOD. Baffled I tried another portable HD drive on a different USB 3 port but it happened again. So I tried Macrium reflect and it happens again. Always at 95% complete. So it takes a long time to reach this frustrating point. At the moment I have no...

Modem, Shut Down, Windows Configuring, and Genuine Windows Error!

My Dell XPS 8700, I bought from Dell has been a pretty good machine. But then I started seeing the modem failing to initialize. It would do this for so long, I'd have to get up an walk away for awhile. Other times only a system restore would fix it, but even that wasn't guaranteed. I noticed when I gave up and finally just want to reboot that it would hang on "Windows is shutting down," but never...

Windows 7 x64 vs 'windows.old' position on the disk

I have pondered often how to get longer life from my HDs. The constant read from the inner tracks used by the operating system will go first, will they not. Lately I saw the windows.old file and in a Sevenforums post it mentioned to delete windows.old to free up space on a small SSD. Can the Windows folder and windows.old folder be renamed or re-positioned on the disk for longer disk...

Is there a way to find out what put computer into sleep mode?

I know that there's a good powercfg command line call that can tell what last woke up computer from sleep: powercfg /lastwake what I need is a reverse -- command/software to tell me what was the last process that put computer into automatic sleep? PS. I've done all the usual checks in the power settings and such. None were found. The system in question has some running service/process...
